London has a lot to thank the Victorians for, as when health became an issue the planners turned to green open spaces for the answer. For me this is one of the most attractive aspects of our beautiful city and whether just walking my dog or taking pictures, my series of local London books can trace their origins to these wonderful oases. In particular, South and West London has some of the finest green spaces to be found anywhere, take Richmond Park for instance, or The Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew, a World Heritage Site. Both of these places have been celebrated within the pages of my Wild About series. Green may be my inspirational colour but my books are far more than that and go to the very heart of each and every community; so the schools, the pubs, the restaurants, the churches and the people that make our towns and villages tick.
